Originally native to China and Korea, this plant is known also as "The Chinese Lantern" due to the beautiful papery structures that grow around their fruits. When light hits these structures from behind, they take on a soft glow. When the thin exterior of the lantern falls away, it leaves a maze of framework behind which accents its fruit. The fruits vary in color depending on how ripe it is, however it is not safe for humans to eat.
