Diamond, Isaac Newton's dog! She is believed to have started the fire in Newton's study, which burned much of his research. It has been said that after the incident Newton took the dog in his arms saying, "Oh Diamond, Diamond! Little do you know the mischief you have done me!" Here we have her with Newton's equation for gravity on the lower scroll, with the modern form above.
